AIS Opens Ramadan with inaugural Ambulance Victoria Iftar Dinner
Australian Intercultural Society (AIS) in collaboration with Ambulance Victoria; Benevolence and United Muslims Migrant Association opened Ramadan 2016 with the inaugural Ambulance Victoria Community Iftar Dinner.
The evening’s master of ceremonies was Associate Prof Tony Walker the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Ambulance Victoria. Al Quaree Abu Aeimin from Doncaster Islamic Community gave the call to prayer and recited several verses from the Quran followed by a lovely introduction to the spirit of Ramadan by Dr Zuleyha Keskin from Charles Stuart University
The guest speaker for the evening was the wonderful Tasneem Chopra. After dinner guest were treated to a breathtaking performance by Whirling Dervishes.
The evening concluded with audience members having the opportunity to share their reflections on the evening’s program followed by a vote of thanks from Mr Ahmet Keskin Executive Director of AIS with an exchange of gifts.
